Stocks: ING or Etrade?

Question by cmletamendi: Stocks: ING or Etrade?
I am looking at opening an account with either ING or Etrade. I don’t have a lot of money to start, I plan on puting in 200-300 bucks for now so I can get the hang of buying and selling, etc. I do NOT want to borrow funds from anywhere and may have the stocks sit for a week or so proir to selling, depending on the market conditions. Im looking at ING, which charges 9.95$ per real-time trade, and I couldnt find much about etrade to be able to determine how much it would cost. Any advice? I plan on getting my account by sunday.

to begin with…any online broker is fine. I like Ameritrade though, and Interactive Broker. Etrade is good too.
here the links of etrade commision:

I know there is Scottrade, Etrade, Ameritrade, and Fidelity. What are the pros and cons of each?

Fidelity has more information about investing to help you learn. Scottrade is a buck cheaper on trades, but in the volume I’m doing, that dollar doesn’t really matter.

I would suggest you look at mutual funds where the professionals pick the stocks, or exchange traded funds (ETFs) that are based on a market index so that you are investing in the market as a whole rather than paying someone to try to pick the stocks that will do better (or trying to pick that yourself).

Fidelity has a lot of information that you don’t need to have an account to access.

I use Fidelity and I think they only penalize if you draw the money out.
